Hi everyone!
Please, allow me to introduce myself… I’m Alex, the new Education and Career Advisor here at NSCAP. I’m originally from Cuba and have been in the United States since 2000. Adult education is something I’ve been involved in since the late 1980’s (not consecutively and mostly as a professor/teacher.) But I have also taught in K-12 programs and have worked as a translator/interpreter in the marketing/advertising and publishing industries for a number of years. But enough about me… it’s great to be here and be part of your team. If there’s anything I can help with, let me know. Thanks, Alex

Georgia O'KeeffeMarch is Women’s History Month in the United States and March 8 is International Women’s Day. During March, we take time to honor and celebrate all the contributions women have made to our society, both past and present.
Take some time today to say thank you to the important women in your life! Before I became a teacher, I worked in an art museum. So, some of my favorite women from the past were artists and writers. You can see art and clothing by one of them --Georgia O’Keeffe-- at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem. https://www.pem.org/exhibitions/georgia-okeeffe-art-image-style Did you know that the Peabody Essex Museum is always free for Salem residents and children 16 and under? If you work in Salem you get free museum admission on Tuesdays through Fridays and EBT card holders also get free admission for two. Plus, you can always get free or discounted Museum passes with your public library card. Hello, everyone. Happy February! I hope you all have enjoyed the start of 2018. If you do not know me, my name is Jackie and I am an AmeriCorps member volunteering at NSCAP. AmeriCorps is an organization in the United States that gives people the opportunity to help their communities by volunteering. I am the citizenship coordinator and I teach our citizenship classes. I will be a volunteer at NSCAP for one year. If you have any questions about U.S. citizenship or immigration, stop by my desk next to the reception area! I am going to share five benefits of becoming a United States citizen:
